Exporting more than 400 MTs of Tra Bong cinnamon to Europe

Tra Bong is one of the largest districts of cinnamon in Vietnam. Each year, the province harvests 600 tons of cinnamon barks. In which, more than 400 MTs of Tra Bong cinnamon would be exported to Europe for processing essential oils and handicrafts.

Tra Bong has area of 1,278 hectares of cinnamon cultivation. The land is considered as the kingdom of cinnamon in the middle parts of Vietnam. In addition, quality of cinnamon here is the best in Vietnam with the high level of oil content.

 Tra Bong cinnamon: Process for export

Tra Bong cinnamon trees has long been famous for its smell and spicy taste. Since the sixth century, Arabic, Portuguese, and Chinese businessmen went here to purchase cinnamon. Each year, Tra Bong exports 400-450 tons of cinnamon to Europe.

People in the district cannot remember when the cinnamon trees come this land. They just only know the cinnamon trees have become fond of them since they were born. At the end of each year, local growers go together to collect cinnamon and process for export.

 One product of Tra Bong cinnamon

The villagers in Tra Bong are fragrant with cinnamon in all four seasons in year. People harvest cinnamon twice a year. The first season lasts from March to April. The other season lasts from July to April according to lunar calendar. According to grower experiences, cinnamon harvesting at this time, will easily separate barks and generate more oil content.

In the early years, people carefully treat cinnamon trees to prevent pests. After seven to ten years, they can harvest. Thanks to the high content of essential oil, Tra Bong cinnamon is an important source of aromatic herbs. Besides, people use it to make spices, stimulate the taste. Cinnamon essential oil helps to relax the spirit. They also use cinnamon barks in many medications for treating respiratory diseases, increasing blood circulation.
