Hundreds of hectares of safe carrot in Hai Duong province

Duc Chinh commune has a long tradition of agriculture in Hai Duong province, Vietnam. In the past, farmers cultivated peanuts and maize but they sufferred low productivity. Then, farmers bravely converted to grow safe carrot for export.

After 10 years of implementation, this commune has become one of the largest area of safe carrot in Vietnam. To achieve that, the government and the farmers have developed areas specializing in carrot together.

In addition, Hai Duong province regularly organizes training courses for farmers. As a result, farmers have gradually adopted to more advanced techniques of cultivation in their farming practices.

In the process of cultivation, farmers do use clean water to fertilize or water plants instead of chemicals. Farmers also do not spray inorganic fertilizers or pesticides on trees. In other words, farmers only should use lime powder and bio-pesticides to kill fungi and pests.

Duc Chinh carrots grow in a favorable environment that does not contain toxic chemicals. Therefore, the color may be less eye-catching and less glossy but the bulb is very crunchy and sweet. To expand the output for safe carrot, the local government created convenient conditions for traders. This support of local government also helps farmers save costs.

Safe carrot: Warehouse in Hai Duong province

In 2017, the area of ​​safe carrot in the commune is 320 hectares with productivity of 47MT/ha. Duc Chinh is also commune with the largest area of safe ​​carrot in Hai Duong province. This commune supplies thousands of tons of safe carrot to domestic consumers every year. In addition, they also export to many foreign markets such as Japan, Korea, Malaysia…

According to local government, the area of ​​rice has significantly decreased during the process of restructuring the agricultural production. Total area of ​​fruit and vegetable has reached over 2,000 ha. In addition, the area includes many models of high and economic efficiency.

Particularly, income of farmers reach to 600-700 million VND / ha / year from fields of safe vegetable. In recent years, the living standards of households have been improved. Besides, safe vegetable of Van Duc commune widely appears in Hanoi main markets.
